Eugene E. Comiskey received his PhD from Michigan State University and his professional qualifications include both Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Professor Comiskey taught from 1965 to 1980 at the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University and also as a visiting faculty member during 1972 to 1973 at the University of California, Berkeley. While at Purdue, he twice received the Salgo Noren Foundation Award as the outstanding professor in the Graduate Management Program. Since arriving at Georgia Tech he has six times been recognized as Professor of the Year by the Graduate Students in Management Organization and once as the Electives Professor of the Year. In 1999, Professor Comiskey was the recipient of the Educator of the Year award from the Georgia Society of CPAs.

In addition to three books, Professor Comiskey has published a number of articles in a wide range of professional and scholarly journals and edited books. A book, with Charles W. Mulford, Financial Warnings (478 pages), was published in 1996 by John Wiley & Sons and is now in its fifth printing. Another book, Guide to Financial Reporting and Analysis (624 pages), also with Charles W. Mulford, was published by John Wiley & Sons in the 2000 and is in a third printing. A third book, 407 pages, The Financial Numbers Game: Detecting Creative Accounting Techniques, published in January 2002, is also in a third printing and has sold over 20,000 copies. Current research interests center on earnings management, creative cash-flow reporting, and the general area of financial reporting and analysis. A fourth book, also with Charles W. Mulford, Creative Cash Flow Reporting: Uncovering Sustainable Financing Performance, should be out in early 2005. For over twenty-five years, Professor Comiskey has worked with commercial banks, both in the United States as well as in Europe and Asia, in the design and delivery of educational programs to improve the financially-oriented credit analysis skills of lenders. From 1988-2003, he was a partner in Financial Training Associates, a financial training and consulting firm that he founded with his colleague Charles W. Mulford.

Professor Comiskey served from 1978 to 1980 as Director of Research for the American Accounting Association. He served (1995-1996) as President of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. The Section has a membership of over 1,500 and is made-up of scholars and practitioners who have a primary interest in matters related to the measurement and disclosure of financial information. Professor Comiskey served two terms on the editorial review board of The Accounting Review - the second term as an editorial consultant, or under current nomenclature, an associate editor. He has also served a term on the editorial review board of Issues in Accounting Education as well as Accounting Horizons, one of the refereed journals of the American Accounting Association.
