What do I need to know about folder redirect?
Folder redirect saves your Desktop and My Documents where they can easily be backed-up and restored if your hard drive should fail. A copy of each file is stored locally in case of network outages. For more information see Folder Redirect FAQ.

I like to be self-sufficient in fixing my own problems; do you have any advice on how I can try to fix my own problems?
1. Correlation
What else changed around the time the problem started?
2. Process of Elimination
Try removing and re-adding pieces to see if you can find the culprit.
3. Research
Search online for others discussing similar problems. Their discussion will often include a solution, and at the very least may provide more details to help you refine the situation.

Why can't I print? If you leave your machine on at night, it's possible that something happened to disrupt the network connection. If this has happened, it will prevent you from printing. The easiest solution for this type of problem is to reboot your computer and once you've logged back in, you should be able to print without any problems.
If it's a local printer (one attached to the computer directly), 1) Verify that the printer is turned on, 2) Restart your computer and attempt to print, 3) Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.

How do I add a printer? For MGT-owned computers you can open Internet Explorer and type \\magilla in the address field, or go to Start -> Run and type \\magilla in the Open field. This will bring up a listing of all of the network printers. If you double-click on the printer that you wish to add, your system will add it for you. The exception to this will be the lab computers in the Undergraduate Lab, the Graduate Commons Lab, and the CIBER Lab; these machines cannot add new printers.

How do I logon in the Labs? You must be a Management student with an active account, be taking a management class, or be employed by the College of Management. Students should use their prism/kerberos accounts (e.g., gtg572d or jsmith3). If you dont' have an account, you should go to Rich/OIT. If you know you have a working account and qualify for access but can't login, you should check with IT Services.

What are some daily/weekly tasks I can perform on my system? Place all of your documents under the “My Documents” folder to help keep everything in one place. Run a defrag (Start>Run>dfrg.msc) weekly to keep your computer from slowing down. And backup your work (copy your My Documents folder to a CD, zip drive, USB drive, etc.).
