Marketing professor Richard Teach recently retired, an occasion commemorated with a celebration at the dean's home in Madison that also welcomed new faculty members.

Teach, who earned his doctorate from Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management in 1968, joined Georgia Tech College of Management's faculty in 1971. He served as associate dean of the business school from 1972 to 1979 and was promoted to full professor in 1991. His areas of academic specialty include marketing models, product development, and simulation and gaming.

Teach's many board appointments over the years have included serving as a director of the Graduate Management Admissions Council, which owns the Graduate Management Admissions Test used by graduate business schools worldwide. With this organization, Teach designed and ran the first MBA Forum, a concept that has changed the way most nationally known MBA programs recruit students.

He currently serves on the steering committee of the International Simulation and Gaming Association (ISAGA), which held its annual International Conference at the College of Management in summer 2005.

Teach has published more than 60 peer reviewed articles in numerous journals, including Management Science, Operational Research Quarterly, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Simulation and Gaming (for which he was an associate editor). In 1994, he won an "Outstanding Service" award from Simulation & Gaming on the occasion of the journal's 25th anniversary.
