Georgia Tech's IMPACT Speaker Series features a discussion on philanthropy and social change by John Bare on Wednesday, September 3.

Bare, who will speak at 4:30 PM in LeCraw Auditorium, is the vice president of sports philanthropy and affiliated funds for The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation

Held by the College of Management and the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, the weekly IMPACT series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni, and members of the Atlanta community a free opportunity to network and learn from high-tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business leaders.

In his current role, John Bare manages grant making for the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation (AFYF) and the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch Fund. AFYF invests $2 million annually across Georgia and is among the most active team foundations in the country. Since 2005, AFYF has focused on reducing youth obesity and increasing youth fitness.

Bare has taught evaluation courses as a part-time instructor at Georgia State University, and he helped Emory's Goizueta School of Business develop a course in sports management. He has published numerous articles and chapters on journalism, evaluation, and philanthropy. A former media research consultant, Bare holds three degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, including a PhD in mass communication research.
