Walk-in advising
During registration periods, we offer walk-in advising. During walk-in advising we will be addressing registration issues, and we will return to long term academic planning after registration. Until walk-in advising begins, you may make an appointment with your academic advisor online using the link above. Just drop by between the hours listed below.

REGISTRATION CHECKLIST: Check all of these boxes to make sure you are ready for registration
Mark your calendar with your exact registration time ticket. Directions to find your time ticket at: http://www.registrar.gatech.edu/registration/timetickets.php. Time tickets are usually posted just a few days before registration. Fill out or update your BSM credit sheet to assure you are on track with pre-reqs and degree requirements. BSM credit sheet available at: http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/index.html
Schedule all pre-req classes accordingly. We do not waive pre-reqs so look at all pre-reqs listed on the BSM credit sheet to assure you schedule them early. The most common mistake is forgetting that MGT 4195 (strategic management) has four pre-reqs that must be completed before 4195. These are: MGT 3062 (finance), MGT 3300 (marketing), MGT 3101 (org behavior) and MGT 3501 (operations).
Make informed decisions about which MGT elective courses to take by reading new course descriptions: http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/courses_curr.html
Read requirements for MGT certificates to assure completion of correct courses: http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/con/index.html
Meet with a MGT advisor for 15-minute walk-in advising meeting if you have questions about scheduling & registration. Walk-in advising starts Monday, Oct. 26 and ends Friday, Nov. 20. Just stop in for advising anytime between 9 a.m. – 12 noon and 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the UG Program Office, room 322 of the College of Management. (Please note: Walk-in advising on Oct 29 & 30 will be 9-10:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.)
Register at your exact time ticket. There are no overloads in MGT classes so get all your classes when your time ticket opens. Information about overloads in non-management classes is available at: http://www.registrar.gatech.edu/registration/oprequest.php. MGT faculty cannot overload students into MGT classes.
To-do list as you plan your schedule:
Take 2000-level classes first: MGT faculty want you to finish the following classes before moving to 3000-level MGT classes: ECON 2105, ECON 2106, ACCT 2101, ACCT 2102, MGT 2250 (stats), MGT 2106 (business law), MGT 2200 (info technology). These classes provide the best foundation for success in upper-level MGT classes.
Take LCC 3401(Technical Communications - 2 credits), a MGT degree requirement, during sophomore year. If you are beyond sophomore year, take this class ASAP. MGT majors should register in sections designated for MGT majors only.
Take MGT 3300 (Marketing) any time after you complete 60 credits, since you must be at least a junior to take this course.
Plan all MGT electives for spring or fall semesters. We rarely offer MGT electives in summer so do not plan to take them in summer.
Plan to take MGT 4195 (strategic management) in your last semester. It is a class for graduating seniors only. Students graduating in that specific semester are given priority and permits into the class. During the last phase of registration and after all graduating seniors have registered, non-graduating seniors who have finished all 4195 pre-requisites may register for any remaining seats in this class.
Submit all independent study projects forms (Directed Study/Special Problems Form) to the Undergraduate Program Office, room 322 of the COM by Nov. 13. Forms available at http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/advising_registration/forms_resources.html. Students must have a 2.7 cum GPA to take special problems courses.
Enroll in all classes on a letter-grade basis, unless the course is a free elective. Only free electives can be taken on a pass/fail basis. The number of pass/fail hours you are allowed to take is based on your total credits completed at Tech. Elective courses for certificates should NOT be taken pass/fail. Complete pass/fail guidelines at: http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/rules/10a.php
Plan your last 36 credit hours for your degree to be completed at or through Georgia Tech. This is a Georgia Tech policy. Attendance at another institution during your last 36 credit hours is possible via application to the GT Cross Enrollment program (which allows simultaneous enrollment at Tech and another college) or by studying abroad with an official GT study abroad program. Information on cross enrollment and concurrent registration is available at: http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/rules/11b.php
Submit request for Duplicate Course Error Override: If you try to sign up for two MGT 4803 (Special Topics) classes, you will get a duplicate error. To avoid this error, request a “duplicate course override” by emailing valerie.mastrangelo@mgt.gatech.edu. Include your full name, GTID and CRNs of the two MGT 4803 classes in which you’re trying to enroll and you’ll get a permit that will allow you to sign up for both courses.
Check out the MGT Undergraduate Handbook for important degree information.
Email your advisor, if you have quick registration questions:
Judy Reese: judy.reese@mgt.gatech.edu (students with last names A-Han)
Raziya Chapman: raziya.chapman@mgt.gatech.edu (students with last names Hao-P)
Lindsay Green: lindsay.green@mgt.gatech.edu (students with last names Q-Z)
Advising appointments for long-term academic planning will resume after registration.
Good luck registering!
