Georgia Tech Technology and Management Program

The Colleges of Management and Engineering at Georgia Tech are working to meet the need for graduates who can succeed on the interdisciplinary teams that are now standard in industry.

Companies need engineers who understand market forces and can anticipate the financial impact of technology investments. They also need managers who understand the technical aspects of new process and product development, as well as the capabilities and constraints within the engineering disciplines.

The Technology and Management Certificate Program will enable undergraduate engineering and management students to learn one another's language through coursework in their respective fields and teamwork to solve real-world problems with the help and support of Corporate Affiliates.

Faculty Director’s Message

The creation of new academic programs is always challenging, especially when it is interdisciplinary. Creating the T&M program here at Georgia Tech has been a consuming activity involving many people, but it has also been a pleasure thanks to the generosity of Steven Denning, who provided the critical initial funding to start the program and the tremendous support of our corporate affiliates, program faculty and staff.

The ultimate success of this program will primarily depend on three things: high quality corporate affiliates, stellar faculty and classes and outstanding students.

The program offers an innovative curriculum, team-based interdisciplinary projects, and the resources of an array of corporate leaders and Georgia Tech professors. Students enter the program at the start of their junior year and pursue a prescribed course of study while satisfying requirements for a bachelor’s degree in their engineering or management major.

We have the opportunity to create something very special. The program is small compared to the size of the Georgia Tech, but we have the potential to make an impact on the basic ideas behind undergraduate education. I look forward to working with you on this exciting endeavor. It is an honor to be a part of this great program.

"We value innovation at Georgia-Pacific and by supporting Georgia Tech's Technology & Management program we get the unique opportunity to meet and work with this impressive group of students and faculty studying the interplay between technology and market forces. At the same time, we are able to share with them our unique business management philosophy called Market Based Management(r), which we use to create value for our customers, our communities and our company in innovative ways."
